Umpires - 2017 Season

Updated Tuesday January 31, 2017 by OYO.

OYO maintains a high-quality umpire program. Anyone age 11 (as of April 30, 2017) and older may apply, be trained, and have a great part-time job making the call. As part of the process, applicants must register online, take the exam, and attend the mandatory clinics. All first year umpires will start out umpiring 8U, Rookie, and Jr Rookie games unless prior approval is made by the umpire committee.

The process OYO uses to train and select our umpires is as follows:

All prospective umpires must register online..

All prospective umpires must attend one of the 2 rule clinics scheduled as follows:

Sunday January 15, 2017 | Jenn Park – 10450 East 63rd Street

Umpires will not be paid for the clinics or scrimmage games.

All umpires must have access to an email account and the Internet. All communication is done via email and all game scheduling is done on the Internet. All umpires must attend the clinics, take the exam and sign the Code of Conduct and Release and Waiver of Liability forms, regardless of past experience.
