Junior Baseball

Updated Sunday January 20, 2019 by OYO.

Junior Baseball is an organized baseball program for our 13-15-year-old ballplayers.  Following most high school rules, Junior Baseballis structured in the following manner:

  • Follows IHSAA baseball rules, amended with OYO house rules
  • Practices begin in mid-May and games begin in late May
  • Games will be played at OYO and other local sites, as needed
  • Teams receive a 10-game-schedule
  • Teams participate in a double-elimination tournament in late June/early July
  • Games are scheduled for seven innings or 2 hours, whichever comes first
  • Players pitch from a 60’ pitcher’s mound and basepaths are 90’ long.
  • Other Junior Baseball league game-specific rules are available at link
  • OYO provides hat, socks, and team jersey.  Players are responsible for baseball pants, cleats (metal spikes are permitted) and their own baseball glove.  Additional equipment (e.g. helmets, bats, etc.) is optional for players to provide as the team equipment bag will contain these items.
